Effect of night shift work on your health

when you are working on the night shift, we force the body to react opposite to its natural cycle like food, sleep etc…,. This creates some effect on the body. In this, we are trying to explain some health issues that cause by night shift works.

1) loss of sleep effect

your body gets rid of toxins, repairs injury, and reduces stress. Working the night shift interferes with those essential processes. That can lead to many of the disorders

Working the night shift also harms your mental health. Numerous studies show that the risk of depression and mood disorders increase when you work the night shift.

4)Obesity And Diabetes

Sleeping during the day and working at night increases your risk of obesity and diabetes. In the case of night-shift workers, these disorders are caused by an imbalance in hormone production. The real danger here is that even if you eat a healthy diet, the hormone imbalance can still lead to obesity and diabetes.

5) Gastrointestinal Problems

Work the night shift for prolonged periods, all the effects mentioned above can accumulate and cause gastrointestinal problems like diarrhoea and ulcers. That can compound the problems you already have and lead to more serious medical concerns.

Women who work overnight are at much greater risk of contracting breast cancer than those who only work during the day. And it doesn’t matter if you work the night shift consistently or just one night a week.

There is some strong evidence from both human and animal studies says that shift work poses an increased risk of cancer. 2007, a subcommittee of the World Health Organization went as far as to state that shift work is “probably carcinogenic.”

Two analyses of data from different studies found that night work increased the risk of breast cancer by 50%. Working shifts on airplanes, like pilots and flight attendants do, increased the risk by 70%. There’s evidence that shift work might increase the risk of colorectal and prostate cancer as well.
